Way too many bugs. Sound improperly detected
(had to manually change driver). After
install, while downloading updates, 50% of
menus off the "KMenu"/"Start" button
vanished-"applications and office" among
them! And of the surviving menu selections,
each contained only 1 or 2 items instead of
the usual 5-10. Wasted over an hour trying
to restore them. K Control Center was
"Neutered" as well with only one
entry(networking) and it didn't work. Next
tried "MenuDrake" in "Mandrake Control
Center" hoping I could restore it there. It
froze each time you tried to add a menu
item. I had to reinstall the whole sys to
regain access to menus. Bloody nighmarish
mess. I think Mandrake had better release
new iso's to replace this trash or risk
loosing alot of users. I have been a fan of
Mandrake for last 3 years but this is
rediculous.

Weird, I haven't had any real problems yet, other than trying to get a Broadcom chipset NIC to work...

Seems like the menu did mess up once, after installing XMMS, but all I had to do was right-click the "K" menu icon, click menu editor, then just clicked Save, and that updated the menu, which fixed everything...

I've had the same exact problems. Mdk 9.2 is very buggy. Konqueror has crashed half of the time. I've been using Mandrake for the last 4 years now and am kind of disappointed with this release. 9.1 was awseome but 9.2 is like the Widnows Millennium of Linux. I went back to 9.1 for now. I ordered Suse 9.0 to check it out (I've heard very good things) but hopefully the next release of Mandrake will keep me interested in sticking around.

I have had only one problem so far on Mandrake 9.2.

It fails to create a Linux boot (startup) disk. Anyone tried creating one and suceeded?.

I would like to be able to do this because I use NT Loader as my boot manager and not LILO or Grub.

I have had the same problems with the menus depopulating and such.

The kicker for me was when I turned on the machine after dew days and was booted into Icewm when I had chosen to boot into KDE--single-user mode.

Instead of booting directly into KDE, I was surprised by a graphical login and then taken to the Icewm desktop.

When I went into the Mandrake Control Center, I saw that the options had changed to a non-graphical login. Not only that, but when I went to change back to KDE, KDE wasn't to be found in the menu at all!! Besides that, I had to configure sound when the other versions detected the proper sound settings out of the box.

I have finished installing Libranet 2.8.1 on this machine. I need a working unit.

Mandrake 8.2 came installed with the computer so I know Mandrake should work! Versions 9.0 and 9.1 worked flawlessly.

Mandrake has either chamged the install routine and has screwed some things up or this is simply the BUGGIEST Nabdrake I have ever experienced.

I'd like a refund, personally. I think Mandrake had better re-release 9.2 and give away free CDs to all of us who have had problems.

People with disappearing menu items: I'd
bet that you've accidentally clicked
"Remove Start Menu Applications" instead of
"Menu Editor" after right-clicking on the
"Start" or "K" menu.

I agree that putting these two menu items
next to one another is poor design, but
it's NOT a bug!

I've got dozens of apps on my
LAN-configured Mandrake 9.2 system, and
there just aren't many bugs! The only one
that annoys me is that the documentation
s/w isn't configured properly in KDevelop,
but at least KDevelop runs - unlike in RH9!

(I'm a complete newbie to Mandrake.)

the start menu problem is a bug,and once the gnome start bar crashed all the icons in the start menu reappeared, every time i install new software i get the same thing happen with the start menu icons dissapearing instead of adding more icons to the menu,i have to say that apart from the bugs i've found so far i still do like 9.2,and congrats to all those who partisipated in the building of this release and the releases past too, nothing like giving it hard and fast to Bill Gates by creating a free operating system for the world to enjoy, GO HARD LINUX USERS.!!
