I tried to install Redhat Linux on my machine, but found that when i tried to set up my network, it would show the status of the ethernet adapter as being "down". Is there a driver issue here? I tried to plugin another D-Link Adapter, with the same result. I have since removed Rehat and have tried Mandrake Move, with the same result. Any ideas?

Next I would try one of the CD-based Linux solutions (entirely runs off of one CD) like Knoppix (not a demo) or the Suse demo CD. If they get out to the Internet fine, then make note of the drivers they selected and the settings and then try transfering those over to mandrake. That is how I figured out which driver to use for my laptop touchpad , under RedHat 9.0
