Mandrake 9.1 Cant see Windows Share

Please help I am getting quite annoyed with myself.
Installed Mandrake Linux 9.1 and want to use it to watch videos on other computers on my network which I have done before, I used to use SMB to mount the drives to watch stuff?? in Mandrake 2005 Limited Edition.
In the version I nhave now there is a smb4k dir in my home folder and in there ther is the namke of all my network computers and in them the names of the shares, but there are no file sin the directories????? I have tried allsorts and cant get the shares to appear, please help
