Mandrake 8.1 no cd install

Hi im trying to install mandrake 8.1 on an old gateway desktop its 100mhz think 32mor slow system it dosnt read cd from boot so I put it to A/C boot from bios and make a cdimg boot disk when it gets to the boot screen and I hit enter I just stays at the screen with the blue bar at the top and the blue bar at the bottom. When I push I think it is alt f3 for system msg it says that it didnt fine my cd so I guess that it cant read my install cd anyone have any idea of what is going on?

use the hd.img for the boot disk
(says so in manual)but it still didn't work
for me, maybe for you? you gotta copy the
contents of the instal disk onto the hard
drive also. takes hours.
