Hey, I was wondering if this would work: I have three partitions, C, D, and E on windows. And I am planning to install mandrake just on E: and have a dual boot with win98 and mandrake8.0 is this possible? Do I have to do anything special for this to work? Thanx in advance for any help given.

Hi,

It's better to install linux on a separate HD if possible.

Either way you'll also need a swap partition, this should be at least twice the size of your systems physical ram.

The Mandrake installer should detect the windows partition on C: and D:, and that C: is your boot drive. So there is really nothing extra you have to specify when installing the LILO boot loader.

But ALWAYS make the linux boot floppy during install, just in case. It can save you lots of headaches.

Good luck.
