I downloaded the iso and right off the bat I am not able to look at it with IsoBuster. IsoBuster gives me the error message "IsoVCLDisplay Error 4" upon trying to open the .iso image. I press Cancel (because if I press OK the message keeps coming up) and then it (ISO Buster) tells me "The Boot Catalog Couldn't Be Read Properly - Read Error at address 658820" Needless to say that when i burn this image (with either Nero or CDRWIN) it won't boot. I have my BIOS so it checks Floppy, CDROM, and the HDD so that's not a problem. Also I tried using rawwritewin.exe to create a boot floppy. That doesn't work either. Message comes up when i try to boot from the floppy - plain and simple - "Boot Failure" Please help.

Also - I am downloading the .iso via ftp in Binary mode.

Theres many places to go wrong when you're starting out...
first off, make sure you're downloading the iso from a credible FTP site... I've used TUCOWS many times, and its never failed. I'm currently using slak 8.0 which i love. but anyway...i'm not familiar with mandrake, but with slak, you must make a boot disk with rawrite, then creat a root disk with rawrite. in the slak dist. you get rawrite in every directory it seemse like, so there's no hastle in switch directories. the most common boot image is "bare.i" and the most common root disk is "color.gz"
i suggest trying the slak dist very highly. but the iso type in NERO is ISO 1 9660. my nero cleanly cut me a perfect slak 8.0 CD.
good luck, hope i helped in some way

I downloaded the iso's of Mandrake 8.0 and Mandrake 7.2 SNF from http://www.linuxiso.org.

I burned the ISO's using Nero Burning Rom and I haven't any problem booting from the CD.

Read the readme-files!
You HAVE TO download the iso-images in binarymode. If you use internetbrowser, it usually uses ASCII!
I used WS_FTP pro 7 to download the images. Worked perfect. I just downloaded them from the belgian mirror-server.

I can't offer any help, but I am having similar problems. I've downloaded Mandrake 8.1 ISO, burnt the install image to a 700mb CDR and a 640mb CD-RW, and neither of them work. It loads the ramdisk (blue/red bar graph) and then promptly halts with signal 7. Alt-F4 shows several atempts to access the CD beyond it's boundaries or something like that. I'm using Nero 5.5.2.8 as shipped with my Ricoh CDRW.

Anybody any ideas? I'm about ot install the latest Nero.
