hi, I was just at the www.mandrakelinux.com mandrake downloading site, and under 10.0 there are four downloads: CD's 1-3 and "Mandrakelinux10.0-Official-Download.md5.asc". DOes anyone know what that last file is/ do I need it? I've already downloaded the other three. Thanks...

Yes, it's an MD5 checksum file. The .ASC extention is a bit unintuitive; it just says it's a plain-text ACII file (so you can go ahead and rename it .TXT if you will).
The contents of the file is a hash string that's of little direct use to you, but if you run an MD5 check on the .ISO file the checksum result should match the string in the .ASC file -- or else your download is corrupt and will not produce a valid cd when burned.
An MD5 checker for Windows is available at http://www.md5summer.org/.
