Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone else out there is having trouble using the downloaded MDK10 cd to boot. I downloaded the images and checked the MD5 sums. Once burned using nero, I can look at the files on the CD and the autorun screen appears on a windows machine. When I put the CD in the computer I want to install it in, it wont boot off of the CD. It the bios is set to boot off CD and I know that the computer is able to boot from CD as I have done it many times in the past. Have any of you had similar problems or found a solution?

Thanks

Did you first extract the files from the image (.iso) and burned the CD? From what you are saying, it seems that you did. If so, then the CD won't boot. You need to burn them as an image. I believe the nero has an option to "burn image" somewhere from the menu...can't really tell you since I haven't use windoze for some time now.

With some CD-ROM drives, CD 1 of Mandrake 10.0 has trouble booting. Try inserting CD-2 and rebooting. That should do the trick.

I have the same booting problem.

I have three PCs here, and only *one* will boot from the first CD. And yes, all are configured to boot from the CD drive(s) first. My main PC has two CD drives and neither will work.

Glad it's not just me, phew.

i too am having trouble booting mandrake 10. i'm about to try the cd #2 first trick.

one odd thing is that my computer doesn't seem to want to boot ANY bootable cd anymore - linux, windows... it always has in the past so i don't know what's up.

mandrake 10 booted fine on my old proliant 6k server but then the install failed because it couldn't find a cd-rom attached to the computer. i asked it "didn't you just boot off a cd-rom?" but it just stared blankly back at me...

I tried it on two different desktops and it doesn't work. Both desktops will boot from the 2nd cd but can not read from the first. Tried burning/downloading mdk 10 again and even burning it with a mac to no avail.

It did however work on my laptop (without any problems at all).

Guess you will have to wait till Mandrake releases the final release...

I've got the same problem

I've got a laptop I'm trying to install MDK 10 on. I've got XP installed now and I'm trying to dual boot XP & MDK.. I've discovered like everyone disc 1 doesn't boot. So I tried the disc2 like everyone says! No go.. Yes the bios is configured to boot cd first.. I don't have a floppy..I tried to boot with the floppy on my tower that has the floppy and it boots the floppy fine..I tried to copy the floppy to a cd no boot like it currupt the files on the disc. Does anyone have any clues on how I can get around this. Its beating me for days now!!
Any comment or help is much appreciated!!!!!
