Unlike newer versions of Mepis, SimplyMepis 2004 does not have an option in it's boot menu to use a refresh rate of 60 Hz.
What would I need to add/edit in the boot options line in GRUB to make SimplyMepis 2004 boot up using a refresh rate of 60 Hz so I could use it with an older monitor I have?
With a newer version of Mepis, adding "xdrvr=vesa" forces 60 Hz, but it doesn't work with 2004.
Thanks,

If running xorg then edit config file.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

I guess it's running Xorg - that is the default, isn't it? I don't know anything beyond linux except how to install and use it. I have absolutely no idea on how to get to this config file and what to edit in it.
In the Mepis Config Center, where you can choose different brands of monitors, there is an option for a "Generic LCD" and different resolutions - LCD monitors only operate at 60 Hz, right? So if I chose that, with 1024x768 or lower (which is the highest the old monitor can handle, with 32 bit color) could it be used with CRT monitors with 60 Hz?
Thanks,
