hey everyone, I'm in need of a most-likely easy solution, but I have yet to find help on the matter. I'm using Red Hat 7.0, and trying to install kernel 2.4.18. All the files have directed me to use commands such as "make mrproper, make xconfig, ect" but it responds with 'bash: make: command not found".All help files mention that make sure it's (what 'it' is, I'm not sure) is in either $bash, /bin/bash, or /bin/sh. But since I'm a newbie, I cannot make sense out of what it's trying to tell me, or how to fix the proplem. Any help is appreciated, and I would need some command by command help, since I'm learning the shell.

Thanks. Marc

You probably didn't install the development packages. Run the RH install in upgrade mode and install it. If you want to make sure it's not some other problem, try whereis make (that command would find it if it's installed).
