Okay, On my one pc I have ONLY Red Hat linux 6.2 and i am trying to uprade to 7.2. I have downloaded both the iso images and burned them to a cd. The problem is my pc will not boot from a cd. So i tried to copy the boot.img file to a floppy. Problem is that the file is to big for my floppy. IT is 1.4 MB (which in theory would fit onto a 1.44MB floppy) but my floppies max out a 1.38MB. I really dont know why this is but i tried at least 10 different floppies and they are all 1.38MB. So i have no way to boot up my new linux. Please help. Thanks a bunch.

I am still new to Linux but just copying the img file to the floppy does not work (I found this out through trial and error) however, I created the boot disks with rawrite.exe from a dos prompt. Just go to the dosutils directory and type in rawrite.exe and specify the location of the boot.img file, it should work correctly. However you will need to boot your computer to a dos prompt with a some type of DOS startup disk (like the one that comes with the Window$ installation CDs. Or you can download a boot disk from the net. Or last but not least if you give me your email address i can create the boot.img file for you on my pc and send it to you then you can just copy it to your floppy. Best of luck.

no, no, of course not...
it has to fit, i did it myself:
dd if=/home/hcueva/myfile.img of=/dev/fd0don't mount the floppy first, just type that. it has got to work.

If you have only Linux in your computer, you should use the "dd.." prompt. If you would have a Win.. sorry.. window$, then you could use the rawrite.exe file, to do the boot floppy..
sorry my bad language, im a Finn..
