Lycoris install

I have a 20g 7200rpm ata100 HDD with w98se installed. I used Partition Magic 5 to split the drive, creating a linux ext2 partition with a swap partition. I downloaded Lycoris build 46 ico file, which md5summed fine. I burned the image onto a CD and tried to install the OS. The install gets as far as "Desktop/LX is now loading the kernel. Please wait." Well, I'm still waiting - that's as far as it gets. Does anyone have any idea what is going on, and how I might successfully load Lycoris? Thanks in advance.

i've had more success creating a part. fat32 of whaever size and lettting lycoris create auto. part. for you. lycoris may have problems finding the / part. to load the kernel the way you went about it. a wordof warning, don't put lilo or grub on the mbr, but on the 1st. sector of the /boot part. or you may have problems later if you make changes to your dual boot. boot magic is very good at managing the boot if you have it. enjoy, lycoris is a neat os and theit web site is great.

ivansv, Thanks for your response. I'll reformat the Linux partition to FAT32 and try again. I would like to split the drive in half with roughly 10g in each partition. That would put w98se totaly within the first 8g (1024 cyl) of the drive, and Lycoris above it. Would this be a problem for Lycoris? I'm totaly new with Linux - this is my first attempt to install and try out a distribution. Any help or tips would be sincerely appreciated.
