I'm a first time Linux user (Mandrake 8.2, kernel, 2.4.18, KDE 2.2) having problems connecting to the internet. Unfortunately, I have a LT modem and I think that where the problem lies. I downloaded the Mandrake binary package from http://www.heby.de/ltmodem and proceed to configure KPPP to dial into AT&T Worldnet using http://www.wurd.com/eng/setup/dialers/linux_kppp.htm AT&T instructions. The modem dials, sits there for about a minute making sounds, but doesn't log onto the network and I get an error message that pppd died (error 16 and 10). When I query my modem, information appears to be wrong (but because I'm not computer genius, I don't know if that's a correct statement). The query results are as follows: ATI: LT V.92 Data Fax Modem Version 8.22; ATI 1: B3E5; ATI 2: (nothing); ATI 3: LT V.92 Data Fax Modem Version 8.22; ATI 4: 71; ATI 5: 8.22,0,19,11C1,044E,1235,044E; ATI 6: (nothing); ATI 7: (nothing). Can somebody help? Linux is great, but no internet sucks. Thanks for your help. Eli
