Hello to all that can help... I just installed redhat 7.1 lastnight and when I booted for the first time I realized I could not remember my user/pass. I figured out how to change the password, but how do I recover or reset the login name?
Thanks for any help

Bill - During the install, you were asked twice for the password for user name 'root'.

If you lost that password, you will have to reinstall.

Otherwise, login as 'root'. You can then add and delete user accounts at will.

hello Bill...if you are currently setup to login to x rather than console you will need to press "ctrl+x" when prompt (in redhat logo )when you see "boot:" type "single user" in this mode at the bash# prompt type "passwd root" and enter a new password for root and then type "shutdown -r now " to restar your computer.........now login with new password with root username....... GOODLUCK
