Hi,
I have a IBM laptop that is running Linux (yeah, I know...). Unfortunately, my Logitech USB optical mouse cannot be detected, I have tried through "mouseconf" and I had no luck. Do you have any suggestions?

If it has kernel 2.2x then it most likely done not have support for USB , although I have read that kernel 2.4 has very good USB support, perhaps try installing that kernel

Actually, there is some support in the 2.2x kernel. I'm using RH7 on a Dell Inspiron laptop, it recognizes my Logitech USB optical mouse just fine, picked it up on the install, and all works just fine. All the usual USB features (hot swapping) work just fine, as does the wheel in everything but Netscape. Sorry, I don't know how to configure it, as it was done during the installation, but it is do-able! Good luck. Doug

Linux supports USB okay! In RedHat 7.0, there is a module, USB-OHCI that is run at startup. The Last of the 2.2 kernels has built-in USB support and Linux 2.4 has great USB support. Take your pick.
If you don't have the experience to configure and install a kernel, you should just install RedHat 7.0 which has been included with USB support.
