I just installed SuSE 8.1. And my Logitech Cordless MouseMan Optical worked fine. However, when I went to log in one day, it wasn't working. So, here's the symptoms.
If I log in as root init3, and run SaX2, I can add a mouse. when I reboot, and go back into SaX2, I notice what I added is gone.

Now, oddly enough, if I go into Gnome, and run YaST2, the MINUTE I open the Mouse hardware section (with USB mouse selected from installation), the mouse starts working!
However next time I reboot, it stops again.
I can't seem to find the configuration that will stick.

To assist with my troubleshooting, how do I determine what /dev my mouse is actually on?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
