The first time you log on you
have to log on a root
At login type "root"

then youll be prompted
for your root password

After you log in you should
create at least one user account
So you wont damage any thing since
root has full adm prvilages.

I logged in as root and filled the rootpass when it asked but after that, it gave me this
[root@www /root]# what does this mean and again I filled in the username and the pass but after that it gave me this message "/var/run/gdm.pid ,gdm was already running (...)but seems to have been misteriously murdered" What does this mean, does anybody have a clue? thank you

That means you need to repost your
Queston on monday when all the linux
pros are checking the boars.

But Till then When you get to
the Root prompt try typing
startx, xconfig or setup and see if you
can get into a gui.
