I boot up and i desktop of login (SUSE8) just ask for password..it goes straight to kde3 and i find no option on login for gnome. I dont know what happen although i know i install gnome and at kde terminal..gnome files is found but i dont know how to boot up gnome. The login a initial stage look not graphic..all grey and a box to type in id and password..no option for WM and a clock indicator. I hope those who are fimiliar with suse v8 can help me out.

I just installed Suse 8.1 and had the same situation, no gnome. Go to install software thru yast (off the cd's) and find the gnome and supporting files and install. Exit and go back into Suse, enter your login name, pass, and use the down-menu and gnome should be there. But from what I have read, Suse isn't really big on gnome. Good luck.
