Hi all,
I'm having trouble with my Linux Box (redhat 7.2) One day when i started it up, only a text login showed up, and when i entered a login name it would just reset the login and not even let my try to type my password. I obviously can't get into my server at all (except for ftp and single user mode) but there's nothing i can do to fix this problem that i know of. does anyone else know how to?

steven

Log in single user mode as "root" and go to the "etc" directory

open the file "inittab" and look for for the line that looks like (it should be close to the top)

id:3:initdefault

the number may be a little different. Set it to the number 5: save the file, exit and reset the computer.

Hope that helps.
