login problems in redhat 7.2

Hi all, I'm having trouble with my Linux Box (redhat 7.2) One day when i started it up, only a text login showed up, and when i entered a login name it would just reset the login and not even let my try to type my password. I obviously can't get into my server at all (except for ftp and single user mode) but there's nothing i can do to fix this problem that i know of. does anyone else know how to?
