Linux can see windows partitions and files (and even read/write there) but NOT in opposite direction. You should just mount the corresponding partition from within a LINIX session (as a root). If mount, etc. sounds greek for you then you should better to consult e.g. http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/Linux+Windows-HOWTO

linux can see windows partitions. else u can copy the windows files and use mtools package to read in linux. same way u can copy linux files using mtools package and read it in windows
Tools for reading/writing linux partitions under windows9x do exist. I had a tool on my system ('ext2mount' or something), but I repartitioned the whole system a few days ago. So I can't find it at the moment.
