Hello guys! What do you think about the new Bill Gates's OS "Windoze eXPig"? Is it better than linux? Any comments?

ahh, the same old *!FLAMING!* on Operating Systems. Don't you ever give up?! It is all a matter of personal tastes. If you hate Bill Gates, I feel sorry for you, and use Linux or Mac OS. If you don't care, I recommend Win2k due to the stability of the OS. Give up, who cares? -Mario

Hmmmmm..... argument time.... here come the Windozers with large software base and popularity as their argument, and the Linux people, with stability, speed, freedom, reliability, security, customizability, open source, no source, no weird license agreement, many less bugs, much more work being done, blah blah blah, etc. as THEIR argument. Yeah I agree mario, people SHOULD give up, and be happy with whatever they like most. Windows is for some people, but not EVERYONE, Linux is for some people, but not EVERYONE. I use about 25% Win2000, 75% Linux Mandrake at home, and i'm happy with that. i see the good points of windows, and Win2000 IS pretty stable. But it can't do everything I want, and it doesn't give me the degree of control or power I want, so I use linux for other stuff. One is not, overall, better than any other, they've both got their purpose (as have MacOS, FreeBSD etc.) The quicker people realise that and quit flaming each other, the better.

OK Guys, no emotions please. All depends on what you need and what you expect. I personally like multiple boot options, running win(ME,2k,XP) and LINUX (caldera2.4, RN6.2, RH7.1) on the same computer - one at the time - (I know there is vmware out). All of these systems serve a special purpose. I do C-programming only in LINUX. I have to use Aventail-Connect to go into the company network and also Lotus notes. This doesn't work well yet on Linux, so I have to use some "windows". I like "webferret" it is not available on Linux. But I fixed a lost drive in using tool in Linux. I run an evaluation copy on the big ERP package "SAP R/3" on Linux and I really like the flexibility, that Linux gives. These days Linux comes even with an office package almost as powerful as MS office and even capable to read/write in the same output format (staroffice, Koffice) Bottom line: Try them both and take the best out of each of them!

You all know how I love Windows and hate Linux, but I will say that XP looks like a joke and Linux is just as good as it. Though it's the licensing of XP that worries me, and the fact you'll need to upgrade to some sort of supercomputer to run it and Office XP at the same time. Robbo
