I wanted to try out linux on ym computer, i currently have XP running but i wanted to see what people were talking about Linux. What are the advantages of linux rather then XP, also can't i get the linux that i can run from a folder on XP. Anyone know where i could get this and also how is might have to be installed and how does it work?> thanks guys

I am not going to asnwer the question regarding why Linux is better than Windows because that question has been asked since the beginning of time... However, if you want to install Linux on top of Windows XP (NTFS filesystem), then you need to check out Phat Linux which they claim that it would work with NTFS!!! But if you just want to check out Linux to see how it is before you actually install it on a hard drive, then check out Knoppix. The whole thing runs directly from a CD so no need to partition your drive or anything like that!!! Or you can try SuSE 8.1 Live Evaluation as well...
