Oh boy! i like this OS (in command line), since I first bought SuSE 7.2 (7 cd's) I was so excited as in the beginnings of my computer carreer with the Commodore 64. I hate doze/windoze since 1992, because back then i wanted a better machine than the c64 and so i bought a 486sx 25MHz 8 MB (it was 25 times faster and 32 bit then my c64 ,so it must be better, i thought) but for many years i had to struggle with this s--- of code named DOS/Windows a monotasking 8/16bit operating system wich could only see/show 640 kbytes of mem, 8 colors and buzzsounds. what a waste , I had a nice machine it was like any better electronic typewriter so i never throwed my c64 away. Until 1997 I gave up looking for somet cool OS so i worked with win98. In 2001 I 've heard about a hacker OS called Linux i tried it with KDE 1 but it was better with KDE 2. I'm fascinated from the command line and what all that small commandlinetools do.
For me GNU/LINUX is GREAT BUT it SUCKS in the GUIs (specially Xwindows-KDE-Gnome cause they are not yet ready for ease greek language install).
But I never go back (only to c64)
I'm waiting for next releases with better GUIs.

I don't know what you are complaining about
or what is your point exactly! Either KDE
or Gnome looks much nicer and better now than
a few years back when I used it. It just
takes a little learning and getting used to
it! By the way, how lond did it take you to
learn where everything was when you first use
Windows? Do you expect to know where
everything is when you first KDE or Gnome?
And thanks goodness that they don't look the
same as Windows environment because if I
want to play in Windows environment, I could
have booted up Windows then. So, stop
complaining and start learning it...

I could not agree more. It took me longer to learn Windblows than it did Linux.

And the GUI, Microshaft wishes it's platform looked that good.

And the install GUI's are getting better with every release, Red Hat, And Mandrake being the best in my opnion.

So open you mind

If you like the command line, use a more advanced distribution like Slackware, Debian, or Gentoo. You'll still have the latest and greatest GUIs (by the way, have you tried Blackbox or Enlightenment?), but it won't be over-GUIed like RH, MDK, and SuSE.

I too, had a c64, then a 286, and so on, till now. About a year and a half ago i bught SuSE 7.1 and installed it ,but didn't undersand it ,so i uninstalled it and put it in the closet for about a year. After upgrading my computer 10 times and getting a virus, I cleaned up my hard drive and remembered that, SuSE in the closet. I dusted it off and installed it ,found out what a hardware modem was ,and now,"here i am".I have Windows on half my 20gig hard drive but hardly ever boot in to it. Went down to Best Buy an bought SuSE 8.0 .Now i use it for everything.I like the Opera browser at www.opera.com and love the xmms (winamp) MP3 player. I'll be the first to tell you that Linux is hard to understand ,but the more i learn about it, and the more i use it, the more glade i am, i gave it a second chance. Thanks to and idea in 1990 we have a choice today.
