I am trying to install Linux/RH 7.2 on my toshiba 4060xcdt laptop and cannot get the cd rom to be the active drive at startup. I was able to have that same device become the primary active drive upon boot when I once installed windows xp not very long ago. I changed the bios settings appropriately and nothing worked. I also cannot get the A: bootable startup disk( linux ) to work. It says boot fails after the second set of files it tries to copy.
Any suggestions? Is this a BIOS problem that a fix exists?

Sorry i didn't understand your problem properly but i think you have problems booting from cd... In most toshiba laptops, you can hold down the 'c' key just as it starts (before it displays the logo) to boot from cd. OR you can make the cdrom drive has the primary boot device (which i think you tried doing) and then save the bios. In most laptops however, not all bootable cds boot successfuly. Try booting some other bootable cd if it works. As far as the floppy is concerned, i think the boot floppy is defective.
