I have just set up a Speedstream 2614 router/print server with a W2K box and a Linux box connected. I have also hooked up a HP DeskJet 812C printer to the parallel port of the router.
I can print from the W2K machine. I have not been able to print from Linux yet. I have tried to set up the appropriate printcap entry as follows:
HP:\
:ml=0:\
:mx=0:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/HP:\
:af=/var/spool/lpd/HP/HP.acct:\
:sh:\
:rm=speed:\
:rp=lp:\
:lpd_bounce=true:\
:if=/usr/share/printconf/util/mf_wrapper:Where 'speed' is the name of the router in my hosts file, mapped to 192.168.254.254.
Looking in the status file, I see the following messages:

Thanks

I had the same problem. The 2614's User's Guide
is wrong. The remote printer name is "LPT1", not
"lp". In /etc/printcap, set :rm=192.168.254.254:
(or whatever you have set your router's LAN
address, in your case "speed"), and set :rp=LPT1:.
