I tried to install Linux Redhat 7
(i downloaded that 2 CD ISO .. and burned it with Nero )
booted with the CD ... followed the things on the screen ... made a swap Partition with 2 Gigabytes .. and a / Partition with 23 Gigs .... and then ... it starts to install the packages .. everything works ... but after some time ... the PC stops copying ... the mouse is moveabel .. but .. the PC does nothing anymore ... and if i try to open the tray ... it ignores me .... then i reboot ... and tray opens normal ... i tried it with my Toshiba 40x and with my Plextor 32
and .. these 2 dont have problems in Windows

i have
MSI K7T Pro + Duron 650
2 * Seagate Barracuda on Primary
on Secondary i tried Plextor only, Toshiba only, both

thx for answers in advance

You need to make your partitions a whole lot smaller, you can always resize them later on.
Also, make a separate /boot partition and mount it read-only. You'll have to reinstall from scratch. I suggest the following for patitioning, which works well for me:

Swap - 128 MB (No sense in making it any bigger than that, in fact 64 MB is all it'll ever use)
/boot - 100 MB (More than enough to hold the kernel)
/usr - 5 GB (Any bigger just don't make any sense)
/ - 5 GB ( -"-)

Don't check "grow to fill disk". Save the rest for future additions/extensions, it's easily accomplished.
