I wan't to recover my RH8.0 linux pwd. From a buddy i came to know the command saying to issue on boot up linux single. but it did not do any thing $ root(hda9,0) init=linux single i use it in this way but no option came just linux simply boots.

I think you want to input init 1 this should put it in single user mode. You may need to use your boot disk.This is for getting your root password back. It is fairly easy. Scary Huh Take care Ron
