Linux on a Digital Hinote Ultra II

I've got a Hinote Ultra II notebook (swappable CD-ROM/floppy). I've just managed to set it up so it boots from the HD into Mandrake 8 setup (CD not bootable) but it doesn't recognise the CD. Any advice? I have DOS drivers available, but the CD I have won't install from DOS as the autoboot.bat file is missing. Also only has a 1 gig HD in it so I can't copy installation to HD.

I worked on one of these a while back. It had a pccard cdrom. What I ended up doing was taking the hard drive out. Installing Caldera linux 2.4 and booting it in the digital. Worked OK with a boot floppy except that the pcmcia could not work what digital was using in there. Do you have docs?

Hi, i've just managed to install WINDOWS ME on my hinote ultra II, yes you heard it, after a clean installation everything goes wrong(you can't do it like this) so i figured another way to do it and it worked :D, WITH THE ORGINAL WINDOWS 95 CDROM AND AUDIO DOCKING STATION DRIVERS !!!(CDROM XM-1402 and music boxes) anyone wants to know how i did it ?

Oh and one more thing... could anyone tell me how to install windows 2000 on the hinote ultra II correct ?
i had problems with my chips and tech video card, windows 2000 couldn't fin resources for it, and you can't change them...
