Im pretty new at Linux but so far in Ubuntu I've figured out how to mount my Windows partitions. But for the life of me I cannot get mp3 support to work for ryhtm box. Step by step what do I need to do? Please. This is very frustrating, I've tried all the ubuntu help sites and nothing works. Am I missing something?

Please don't tell people - especially newbies - to download software from random sites on the internet when:

a) The site does not provide a package built for their distro and is not the official project site for the source code.

b) The site mysteriously provides out of date versions of well known software.

c) The software is already available on the installation media and in the distro's official package repositories anyway.

It is not helpful (it will certainly not solve the problem in this case) and it is a security risk.

Thanks, the first response was very helpful. Coming from totally using windows/DOS is the biggest problem. I have used UNIX a bit at school to make a GIS but that was about it. I am just trying to get off of the windows state of mind so to speak and see what else is out there... especially when its FREE!
