what the hell!! u ppl r soooo wrong! check out http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html the LINmodem that i recently bought has the lucent chipset, and i got it going just fine w/ *MODEMlinux586.zip* good luck. =NilLojiX

Linux 7 ,kernel 2.2.17, on Dell inspiron 4000 - no luck so far with any of the LT winmodem files that i have found including 568.zip - i think i will just go and buy a card for the slot - that i know will work....!!! Still if you have any ideas please let me know

Summary: I don't know about your perticular modem, but Linux does not support WIN/Software modems. WIN/Software modems are cheap modems that were designed to work under windows and use the computers processor...
