I habe Win 2000 installed on my PC and i wanted to install Linux 7.0 pro
1. Try:
-I created a new partition for it, rebooted windows and everything worked
-I started the Linux Setup to recognize that Linux thinks that the partition i wanted to use is the 1st partition. But setup wants me always to use the partition with the highest number. So i wanted to reboot Windows to fix the prob
but windows didnt boot anymore
I checked the Harddisk with another PC to find out that the formation wasnt there anymore :(.
I tried everything but all my Data was lost2. Try
So i formated my HardDisk and tried to install Linux as first System now.
Everything worked fine
Linux was installing additional programs and suddenly crashed. I restarted the PC and Linux didnt stop showing the same error again and again (uncorrectable error)all my Partition progz show errors and crash on reading the volume data
Am i right if i think my Harddisk is ready for the bin now?

1)
First of all you should not be so quick to reformat your drive.Think twice and ask someone before doing it again.
There is often an opportunity to fix things without reformatting. Actually I consider this as the very, very last resort.2)
What is it that you call Linux 7.0?
This doesn't sound like anything I know.
3)
If you install any Linux It will first try to install itself into a free partition, meaning an area whare NO partition is. Then it tries to find a partition which is not occupied by a file system. If all that is not given it starts asking you and I hope, you know, what to answer.

" Linux killed my Hard Disk". this is complete nonsense. read the howtos, ask people who know how to deal with partitions. i have never ever in my whole life heard that any OS installation program ever physically trashed a hard disk.

And remember, the computer does whatever you
tell it too so don't blame it on somebody
else for your mistake. If you tell it to
format your harddrive that contains Windows,
then it will do that for you so be careful
before you do that. Make sure it is an empty
partition!Lawrence
