Linux is not pinging any, except itself

Redhat 6.2 is pinging itself, but any local lan ips is not identifying. Checked the linuxconf, basic hosts information, everything seems to be ok. The ping command works fine with itself. the ip address of that machine is 192.168.100.8 it pings itself.

Look like you are using the wrong driver for this NIC. Use different NIC model/brand may help.

Did the NIC initialize correctly? Does the output of:
ifconfig
show that it is up??

It is difficult to help you without knowing anything about your network and the network setup.
You obviously got a private IP address. I assume that your NIC is configured to get the address using DHCP.
If this is true, your machine can at least communicate with the DHCP server. Otherwise it wouldn't have the address.
If you defined this address, then I'd like to know why exactly this one. What is your LAN? How are the other computers set up? What are their addresses?
