Comment:

Hi,

I want to install Fedora Core 1 on my Laptop (SONY VAIO VGA-C13G). I have the all three installation CDs. But during installation it shows me the error message as "No Device Found"-There is no valid device on your PC to install the Linux ..etc".

So, please let me know the cause of the problem and how to get rid of it.

Thanks!

Sandy!

Maybe the version of Linux you are using does not have the correct Drive Controller Chipset Driver included.

Maybe you could post information as to the manufacturer/model of the Controller Chipset ?

I am not a fedora user, so I went to the
ftp mirror of my choice and found that the
oldest fedora core release on the mirror is
fedora core 3.

The most current fedora release I find is
Fedora 8 (it appears they changed their
methodology with fedora 7).

From what I gather, you are trying to use a
seriously outdated release for which the
most recent update was posted September 16,
2004. Since fedora core 1 appears to be
well past its end of support, you will be
best served to get the current release.

Depending on how old your computer is,
Fedora Core One may be incapable of running
on it since some of your hardware may not
have even existed when that release was
written, including (among other hardware)
your CD/DVD drive.

Hi,

Thanks Bakers & Ernie !

The problem seems to be the Latest HW (as I have purchased the Laptop six month back) and the older version of SW (Fedora Core 1).

Thanks !

Sandy!
