Hello all,
I met problem when I tried to install RedHat Linux 7.3 on my custom build comp.
I have already installed Windows XP installed, and have two logic partitions
C: and D: which have been installed with NTFS. DVD/CDRW is E:, Memory Stick
is F:, I have another raw partition as G:, which I intend to install Linux
on.First I copied all the Linux CD-ROM to a folder with a Path C:\Linux. I
tried this because the DVD/CDR drive is not supported by 7.3. Then I
restarted my computer using a 7.3 startup floppy disk. After I choose the Language, Keyboard Type, there appears the Installation
Method window with two options: Local CDROM and Hard drive. When I select
Hard drive, I was given only one partition "/dev/hda6", I cannot locate
"/dev/hda0" which should be my C: disk. I was stuck here and could not
continue.Do you have any idea how to locate the Linux installation path?
Thanks in advance.
Luke

Ive heard that you can install OSīs ONLY
on master Drives. If you have mulitple hard-drives(not partitions), make sure that
the HD you want to install RHL on is a master. Now ive only heard this, i have never
tryed to have 2 OS installed at once, so i
might be wrong. You say that you have a custom built computer, so i presume that you know how to select master or slave on the back of the IDE drives.

did you even try to boot off the cd?
reading somewhere that the drive is incompatible with linux might just mean, you cant burn dvds with it.
installation source:
i guess you didnt mount the c partition.
try ctrl+alt+f2 to switch to a console,
mkdir /install
mount /dev/hda1 /install
and then you should be able to access the cd stuff(btw your first partition is hda1 not hda0)

I believe the reason you cannot see the other partions or read them, is that you stated they were formated ntfs. Linux does not support reading ntfs partitions. Since you have placed the image on an ntfs partion, it isn't going to work.
If you havn't tried booting from the DVD/CDRW, give it a try...no harm in doing so.
If this doesn't work, try a lan install as another option, unless you can come up with a fat partition somewhere.
Good luck!
