Hi people, I've been trying for ages to get involved with linux but I'm affraqid to mess up my whole system and then no linux, no nothing. I've got this computer that I recicled from bits and pieces and I'm trying to make a nice linux box of it. It has got CD ROM which is good. I made a big mistake of deleting the old O.S. which was win95 because now I can not install it again. You see, I was trying to make a clean Linux install but it seems to be much more difficult than I thought. Now I have DOS in it and I can put win3.1 on it. What do you suggest? Please help this lost newbie. Thanks a lot. If anyone wants to help email me at antoniopanc@hotmail.com

if your computer is not too old, it can boot from a CD (check your BIOS). If so, you are set because most recent distro's can be installed by booting the 1st CD (typically 3 in a set).
Otherwise, if you can mount the 1st CD under dos, D: (whatever) and look for INSTALL.TXT and README's
