Hi all,
My problem is very annoying...First of all, I had Linux Mandrake 9.0 running on my current computer fine...everything was perfect, but I was tired of it so I decided to try Redhat just for the fun of it.
I had a problem getting it all to work before where in mandrake the install screen would go blank and just do nothing...well thru trial and error I found out that it was Boot virus dectection enabled in the bios that was causing it. Everything was good after I disabled that and it installed fine. Now the system hasnt changed one bit and it is giving me the same problem. I get a blank screen with mandrake 9 or "Ran out of space -- system halted" with RedHat or "Crc error"
I KNOW this computer will run it because it has before and with the same exact bios settings. I have no clue what to do, but if i didnt need linux i would take the cds in the backyard and beat em' with a sledgehammer because this is SO annoying I cant stand it.
So bottom line is it worked before with the same exact bios settings and I know for a fact it was the boot virus decection that caused the blank screen during install with mandrake 9.
Any ideas would be absouletly appreciated. Thanks

I've played with the settings now I am getting random messages "crc error -- system halted" "Invalid compressed format -- system halted" and once it started to work but got a kernel panic because it could mount something. These messages seem to be 100% random ...every boot is something else. Do anyone know what is going on?
thanks
