Hi,
I have a 40GB HD with five partitions on it. I left 4GB unused disk space at the end in order to install Linux Fisher 7.1. I tried to install Linux through the GUI but it failed at the manual partition using the Druide. I was unable to mount the /boot partition. I am wondering why this failed as I have read that this Linux release should be able to create the /boot partition even if the partition resides on a cylinder greater than 1024? Can anyone explain?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Geert.

hard to tell, sounds like it no fault of yours but the configuration arrangement. Probably need to experiment, use a little trial and error to work it out. Hope it helped.

There is more than one size limitation in Linux. Check this info from the Large Disk HOWTO:
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Large-Disk-HOWTO-12.htmlAlso, double check your boot loader's version and make absolutely certain that it does not have the 1024 cylider limitation.
