on boot up i only see grub> prompt. Here's my settinghard disk 1 - 10gig, xp and 2000 server installed in one partition
hard disk 2 - 10gig, fedora linux 2
before i installed linux, xp and 2k server were running successfully and i was given option to choose one. Default was xp.
when i installed linux, I used Druid partition to create one root and one swap and mbr was on hda1, i checked. i didn't change anything really
This is not first time and in fact throughout this week i've been tryin to get these 3 os working happily. current setting is as it should be, but only if linux fedora grub> prompt doesn't show up.
Please all you boot experts, would much appreciate a way to restarting my windows without uninstalling linux or removing 2nd hard disk.
Thanks in advance.

Had the same problem (briefly) while installing Mandrake on a second hard drive.
Is your second hard drive recognized in BIOS?
Mine wasn't. It was a trivial mistake, but once rectified, Mandrake booted fast as hell.RD

If you want to easily fix this, I would suggest going to LILO. Don't get me wrong, I love GRUB and I use it most often, but try out LILO. If you know the location of the partitions you can specify them easily with LILO. One thing to note is that you have a tricky partition configuration. When you configure LILO you should know that you will only specify one Windows Boot option since there is only one partition with both windows OSs on it. When you boot to that one windows partition, the NTLOADER will kick in and ask you which Windows version to boot from just like you had before. If you have problems with that you will need to insert your Windows CD and boot from that, then choose recovery mode and use the commands fixboot fixmbr and mbr*(mbr something, I don't remember the exact commands, only that there were 3 to fix the boot options).
As far as LILO, check this tutorial out and give it a try.

FYI Your MBR is more likely to be
on /dev/hda than /dev/hda1. Are you able to
boot with the boot floppy made during
installation?
