Linux hangs when booting off CD. ?!

i HAVE A ECS K7VMM motherboard with a Geforce 4 mx 420. pctel modem. I just got Redhat linux 8.0 from the redhat linux 8 bible book. I booted off the cd and I have tried all the install types with no go.
When I boot up of the cd to the installer black text goes across the screen. Which is normal.
Then it stop anf hangs.
Here is the last three lines.
Posix conformance testing by UNFIX enabled by Extint on CPU#0 ESR value before enabling vector:0000002

Buddy.. I am in the same exact boat as you.. I think we might need to get another mother board... I just pasted "ESR value before enabling vector" into yahoo and your post here was the first result that came back.....
If you get any info if it is MoBo specific plzzzzzzzzz email me too! I'll be sure to post if I come up w/anything.

have the same problem with mandrake 9.0 had to install lm 8.2..make a boot floppy using an older image..it took me to the cd rom where i had disk one of mandrake 9.0 and i did an upgrade with no problem..now how did you get the geforce to work? is it pci or agp??? my new vid card is agp with a no go on this motherboard

Same problem. RH8.0 and Mandrake 9.0 - Mandrke text install hangs with an APIC error mesage. I had the same problem with an Dual Asus mother boerd for Athlon MP I solved it by turning of APIC at BIOS but this ·$3@@|# has not that option.
