hi guyz,
i have my machine dual booted with win xp and r.h.linux 7.3. but i'm not able to work with kde or gnome interface in linux as only the command line interface is available. when i took the computer the vendor had loaded win xp with r.h.linux 7.1 but the problem persists frm the beginning. perhaps at the time of initial install there were some problems with the the vga or graphics settings. i have a via chipset. i thought that an upgrade wud do but inspite of the successful upgrade there was no x-interface .i also tried to change the graphics settings by XConfigurator but its showing a message that there is a problem with the settings and is not working,Also my default first boot has changed from windows to linux which i want to change back to windows. please advise...

XConfigurator not working?
K then type xf86config on the prompt, that will open a text based configurator. To configure Xfree86 with it, you have to know your monitors sync rates, which graphics card you have, which mouse, which keyboard etc.
The monitor settings can be found in the monitor manual or the vendor website, If they are not available, use a conservative (low) setting from the menu...Setting to a sync rate higher than your monitor supports may damage your monitor.
Say 'y' or 'yes' when it asks you to save the configuration.
Type 'startx' to start X windows.
You can edit /etc/inittab to start X windows on boot.
Good Luck.
