XConfigurator not working? K then type xf86config on the prompt, that will open a text based configurator. To configure Xfree86 with it, you have to know your monitors sync rates, which graphics card you have, which mouse, which keyboard etc. The monitor settings can be found in the monitor manual or the vendor website, If they are not available, use a conservative (low) setting from the menu...Setting to a sync rate higher than your monitor supports may damage your monitor. Say 'y' or 'yes' when it asks you to save the configuration. Type 'startx' to start X windows. You can edit /etc/inittab to start X windows on boot. Good Luck.
