Hello,

I just installed linux fedora core 2 and when the install rebooted it seems all I get is the grub prompt. I have looked around the web to find some answers or what could have happend. The best I have come up with is that linux cant find the boot partition.

I typed in the following.

grub>find vmlinuz

Then all I got was this :

error 15: file not found

I then did this

grub>root (hd0,[tab]

possible partitions are:

partition num:0, filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
partition num:1, filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
partition num:2, filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x83

----------------

I dont understand. It cant find any file or grub.conf. I reinstalled again with default packages and still ended up at the grub prompt. Why dont the GUI launch?

What happens if you just hit enter at the
grub prompt? Did you try:
root (hd0,0)
or
root (hd0,1)
What's on the last partition.

Are you able to boot with the floppy disk
you made during installation?
Try either root (hd0,0) or root
(hd0,1)

Do you get any sort of errors if just
pressing enter?
