Has anyone configured Linux as a firewall/gateway connection between a fractional T1 and a LAN? I have a small LAN at my work (one server approx 20 workstaions), We do not qualify for DSL or Cable interenet access, so we are looking at a fractional T1 line as an option. Is it possible to use a Linux firewall/gateway (iptables) with two NIC's (external and internal) as a connection point between my LAN and the T1 line? Or do I need a special T1 router to do this? I am hoping that I can use my Linux firewall/gateway

I've no personal experience of this but there's support in the kernel for one or two WAN cards that are capable of direct connection to T1 and there's some documentation in the source tree that points to the excellent looking site at www.sangoma.com - lots of interesting docs there, aswell as information about their cards, at least one of which is clearly capable of fractional T1 and looks well supported on GNU/Linux.
