Can anybody tell me what are the meanings of Blue,Green,White & any other file types of Red Hat Linux.I am a beginer in Linux.Please help me.

colours are applied to file type when a 'ls' command is issued for ease of seeing what files are where.
if you edit/read the file /etc/DIR_COLORS or along those lines it will show you what file (extensions) coenside to what colours, this is where you can add you own custom ones (also you can make types flash - handy for broken symlinks)

I have one directory having all the files of green color & i am saving a file in that directory .It is showing the color of the file as white.I think according to the type of the file (i.e. Read-Write-Execute) the color is set.Can you help me to set the color of that file as green?

regular file= white programs= green directories= blue liks= aqua
