Hi,
I am an absolute beginner to Linux (Red Hat 8.0). I would like to know how to backup a Linux ext3 partition to a single file (image) on a Fat32 partition (on a second HD). As I am new to the system I'll be making lots of mistakes so I'd like to "snapshot" my Red Hat Linux partition now and again.
With windows 95, 98, ME I usually use Drive Image (various versions), unfortunately It recognises the Linux Ext3 partition only as "BAD".
I'm using two hard drives - Windows ME - 4 Partitions (80GB - multiple OS's - all Windows using System Commander 7 to boot)on the primary IDE channel. A 3.2GB hard drive on the second IDE devoted solely to Linux. I usually select one IDE channel on booting, to avoid confusion.
I'm aware that I could probably convert my ext3 filesystem to ext2 (for Drive Image compatibility) but I'd rather avoid doing this at this stage. Sorry about the length of this! Any feedback greatly appreciated.
Thanks In advance

Hi,
to solve your confusion, there is a nice
open source partition image program at
www.partimage.org
Why dont you check that out?
be sure you know how to mount your fat32
partitions on linux
