Is there any Linux equivalent for the WhereIsIt program? Or at least something that can import the WhereIsIt catalogs?

Bundled with most Linux distributions is a
utility named whereis. This is a command
line utility. In a console or a terminal
window enter: whereis <filename>

On some distros you might have to use locate
At the terminal type [locate filename ]
Leave out the brackets of course

WhereIsIt is a software that generates catalogs for cd's and other media, by contrast to whereis and locate that search for files only on mounted drives.
I asked for a equivalent because I couldn't get it to work with wine (I get an "invalid floating point operation", as I get with any other app I've tried to emulate), and I can't get VMware to compile.
So much for emulating :)
Dlonra, google yelds all king of funny results on this search, since whereisit is composed of common words.

well, my google response to "Linux WhereIsIt" had, as about the 5th entry:

WhereIsIt - Version 2 Downloads
... includes full source code and translated header file to WhereIsIt's DescAPI interface
for ... RPM Plugin (Linux, RedHat), 27 KB, 0.01 beta, Eladio Linares, August 25th ...

I'm sorry, but that "RPM Plugin (Linux, RedHat)" is just a plugin, allowing WhereIsIt to scan the contents of a rpm package.
Also, there are no sources for this software, since it is a commercial version only. This is why I need an equivalent for this app.
I'm sorry if I seem to bug you with this, but I have some really big catalogs in WhereIsIt and this is the only reason for me to not delete yet windows. unfortunately.
