Does anybody know where I can find aureal vortex drivers for Red Hat 7.2? I found drivers for Red Hat 6-something... but they don't seem to work on 7.2 since I get all these errors... I'm new to linux but still I want to get rid of all the microsoft stuff and I can't since my sound card doesn't work...

...also, I have 56k Genius modem that Linux doesn't detect...
(with windows I had the same problem but unlike linux in windows I know my way arround...a little... :) ).
anyway...I tried to connect using another modem and it works fine. Also in the hardware compatibility list at red hat the modem is compatible so I guess it's something I'm doing (or not doing. Could someone please walk me through the basic steps?

Any answers appreciated... even if it's to say "give up Linux" :)

I have gone through the samething trying to find a driver for my Montegao II Quadzilla(Aureal Vortex 2), for RedHat 7.2. Here are a couple of useful places I have come across.

/lib/modules/2.4.7-10/misc/au8830.o: unresolved symbol register_sound_midi_R42d8a366
/lib/modules/2.4.7-10/misc/au8830.o: unresolved symbol register_sound_special_Rd53e3aa3
/lib/modules/2.4.7-10/misc/au8830.o: unresolved symbol register_sound_dsp_R7987cb4e
/lib/modules/2.4.7-10/misc/au8830.o: unresolved symbol __pollwait_R047dd2bd
/lib/modules/2.4.7-10/misc/au8830.o: unresolved symbol mem_map_R9141227f
/lib/modules/2.4.7-10/misc/au8830.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.7-10/misc/au8830.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.7-10/misc/au8830.o: insmod au8830 failed
make: [install] Error 255 (ignored)

Any suggestions on how to get around this?
I have the Diamond MX300 that I am trying to install. Is there an alternate driver which I should try installing?

Thanks
