Hi all,
i found the following driver for my conexant
winmodem while searching the net. it is
fully functional and operates at maximum
possible speed
i am using knoppix 3.7 with kernel 2.4.27
i am posting this link so that it may be of
use to others
http://linux.dell.com/files/ubuntu/...

i nearly forgot
it is an internal pci modem
under windoze it is described as softk56 data, fax pci modem in the device manager

http://www.conexant.com/support/md_...
A good place to start is the device mananger. You should see under the properties of the devies a string that includes something like this.
PCI\VEN_14F1&DEV_1035&SUBSYS_1035148D&REV_08\4&8537DD&0&58F0
The go to linux sites for your vendor's ID and the device to see what linux support is for it. Above is vendor 14F1 and device is 1035
I have not tried it but I thought I read that you might get ndis wrapper to work with your windows drivers.
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/...http://www.int21.de/conexant/
http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/ is a place to try their drivers.I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.
