Hi y'all,
Can anybody tell me where I might find basic linux commands?? most of the site's I've visited assume a good working knowledge of Linux and I don't have a clue. A 'dos equivalent' would be most helpful if one of you experts had the time or inclination. i.e.
DOS Linux
copy c:\x.x d:\stuff CP *whatever* edit txt.txt ?????????? dir a:\ mount ev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

Hmm, if I remember correctly there is a book called Linux for DOS users (it maybe windows users). I would search for that in the internet book stores.

The problem is that DOS command are at most 1% of linux commands. In Linux you have several ways to do the same thing.
copy = cp dir = ls edit = vi delete = rm rename = mv cd = cd

If you merely want to do file operations (copy/rename/move etc...) try Midnight Commander, which is part of all Linux Distrubions. Midnight Commander can be run by typing 'mc' at the console propmt. This assumes that Midnight Commander was installed, of course.
Summary: Pardon, me, but I was mistaken. The "ls", "mkdir", and "rm" commands are not "internal" as I thought. I take that terminology from my DOS days. The "internal" commands were in memory from command.c...
