i have dual booting xp & suse 9.1 laptop.
it loads suse then come to a login screen where i am asked for a name and password.
i didnt set this up and dont know why it did.
if i press ctrl-alt f7 i can go into what i i presume is an xwindows screen where i am again asked for name + password i give them my name and password and i can get into my files but i cant do it in the GUI way.
f anyone knows how the login option could be turned of in the GUI window through the xwindow way i d appreciate it.

You were probably set to auto-login to kde. You must have set a password to install linux.
When you press ctrl-alt-f7 that username and login is what you type into the kdm login screen. If the login screen is text based after logging in type startx or startx kde

mcminimy:
You burned the CD wrong. You want to select "burn image" from the nero flie menu and point it at the .iso image, that will automatically create a bootable CD.
