Hi,

i want to backup my linux-server.
I have a 35GB SCSI-Raid5 installed on /dev/sda with 2 partitions on it (sda1 and sda5)and a 100GB SLR-tabe installed on /dev/st0. I made a backup with dd:

dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/st0 bs=128k

This was ok, 45 minutes later, the tape was finished. Then i wanted to restore the tape with:

dd if=/dev/st0 of=/dev/sda bs=128k

This worked well, but on booting the system, the partitions were gone.
can anyone help me? I ned to backup the system including the Master boot record, that i can restore a bootable system.

Thanx!
